Timetable for the Weekend:
Friday, 9th May, 2014
Carpiquet people arriving 5 p.m. – We will meet them at the Chilworth Golf Course for a small reception and then hosts take them home for the evening – we are not having a separate evening gathering on that evening this year.
Authie people arriving approximately 7.45 p.m. at North Baddesley Village School (unfortunately this year there was no boat coming over in the morning from Caen to Portsmouth so they are coming over from Cherbourg to Portsmouth on the Fast Cat and will arrive in Portsmouth at 7 p.m.) We are still trying to determine whether they will need a meal when they arrive or if they will have already eaten.
Saturday, 10th May, 2014
10 a.m./10.15 a.m. Leave North Baddesley Village School to drive to Winchester – you can leave your car at the school.
11 a.m. Arrive Winchester – Queen Elizabeth Court – where we will be met by Mr. Roy Perry (Head of the County Council) who will give us a presentation of the work of the Hampshire County Council (in French and English).
12.30 p.m.- 1.30 p.m. Picnic lunch (provided by yourself for you and your guests). We suggest you take everything that can be thrown away so that you do not have to carry it around all day. Mr. Perry has kindly offered us the use of the Podium in the Castle to have our lunch – this is a lovely airy location looking out onto the inner courtyard. There are toilets etc. available here.
1.30 p.m. Our Winchester Guides will come and meet us and take us over to the Great Hall – we will be divided into French and English Speaking Groups – 3 of each.
We will then be taken on a walking tour of Winchester – in our groups – taking in the major sights of the city – this will take approximately 2 – 2 ½ hours. At the end of the tour there will be some free time to go and have some refreshments before our coach picks us up at about 4.30 p.m. by King Alfred statue to come home to North Baddesley. Hosts will take their guests home for a couple of hours.
7 p.m for 7.30 p.m. meet up again at the Crosfield Hall in Romsey (hosts to make their own way there with their guests – this will enable people to go home when they want to). We will have dinner, drinks and some entertainment throughout the evening.
11.30 p.m. Evening ends.
Sunday, 11th May, 2014:
Morning free with hosts – our guests will leave at approximately 1 p.m. from North Baddesley Junior School.
This is the itinerary as it stands at the moment – we will give out the final timings etc. at the AGM.
The costings for the Saturday are:
Hosting Families: Whole day £15.00 per person
Winchester only: £7.50 per person
Evening only: £10.00 per person
Non-Hosting Familes (all of our members are welcome to take part in this weekend):
Whole Day £20.00 person
Winchester only £10.00 per person
Evening only £10.00 per person

Final Briefing for the French Visit
NB. This year all seats on the Committee, apart from the Chairman, are available for election and if any member of the Association wishes to nominate another to sit on the Committee it is preferable to advise the Chairman, together with a seconder for the proposal, prior to the commencement of the meeting. However, a proposal and seconder from the floor will be accepted during the election proceedings if prior notice is not possible. The current Treasurer has tendered his resignation and, therefore, a new Treasurer will be needed.
Not long to go now before our French visitors arrive on 9th May, 2014. All the final details and timings will be given out at our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 30th April, 2014 commencing at 8 p.m. in All Saints Church Hall, Rownhams Road, North Baddesley. The Agenda for this will be send out to you early next week.
For those of you who are hosting I just need the numbers of you that will be coming on our day trip to Winchester on Saturday, 10th May and also the number of people coming to the dinner in Romsey in the evening. The cost for the whole day will be £15 per person (a bargain for a whole day out including dinner and drinks). This cost only applies to the NBTA members. Cheques to be made payable to NBTA. Members who are not hosting are, of course, also welcome to join us on the day, but we do need the numbers.
We will be going to Winchester by coach on the Saturday morning – having a presentation in Queen Elizabeth Court by Mr. Roy Perry – the Head of Hampshire County Council (in French and English) and then a picnic lunch. We will have free use of the Great Hall where we will meet our guides after lunch and be taken on walking tours of Winchester – in possibly six groups, with English and French speaking guides. We will work out the groupings for the day. We will leave Winchester at about 4.30/5 p.m. to go home with your guests for a couple of hours before we then all meet in the Crosfield Hall in Romsey at 7 p.m. for a Dinner – with entertainment throughout the evening. The evening will finish at 11.30 p.m. but we will all go by our own transport so the time you leave is entirely up to you all.
If you could let me have your proposed numbers, for both yourselves and your French guests, I should be very grateful as we are now putting the final details together. Also, if any of you have any dietary requests could you please let me know these as well.
